Ph.D. Program in Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

The Ph.D. is the third and highest university degree level of education. In Italy, the access to a Ph.D. program is in general intended for those who already hold a second level degree (M.Sc.), or equivalent, and want to invest in a higher level of education in a specific research field.

The Ph.D. program begins on the 1st of November and ends after three years on the 31st of October. This standard duration of an Italian Ph.D. can be extended of one additional year, up to a maximum of four years, in specific special-need cases (maternity leave, special personal conditions, delay in achieving requested level).

Each three years Ph.D. course (also known as Ph.D. Cycle) is conventionally labeled with an ordinal number, often denoted in Roman numbering, that counts the order of the course since the institution of the Italian Ph.D. in 1982. The Ph.D. courses that began in the Academic Year 2013/2014 are labeled as XXIX Cycle.
